Jordan Pushes Lady Statesmen Past Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Takisha Jordan poured in a career-high 23 points and finished tied with a game-high seven rebounds to help lead the Delta State University women's basketball team to a 59-57 victory over Christian Brothers, in Gulf South Conference action, on Wednesday at Canale Arena.

TURNING POINT:
- DSU trailed 55-52 with 6:05 left in the game, but held CBU to just two points during the rest of the quarter to earn the come-from-behind win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- After shooting 14-of-27 (51.9 percent) in the first half, the Lady Statesmen were just 8-of-27 in the final 20 minutes to finish 22-of-54 (40.7 percent). The Lady Bucs were 21-of-45 (46.7  
   percent), including 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) from three-point range. DSU also took advantage of the three point shot, as it finished 6-of-13 (46.2 percent).
- The Lady Bucs finished the game with a 32-26 advantage on the glass.
- DSU scored 21 points off 15 CBU turnovers, while comitting just six of its own.
- Jordan led the way for DSU with a career-high 23 points. She also finished with tied for the team lead with seven rebounds. Alondrea Rush added 16 points for the Lady Statesmen. Brynne  
   Lytle had 16 points to pace CBU, while Rafaella Angelidou had 15.

 INSIDE THE FLOW:
- Leading 8-7 with 5:27 left in the first quarter, DSU went on a 10-3 run to take an 18-10 lead after the opening quarter. The Lady Statesmen were aided by 7-of-14 shooting and eight
  rebounds in the first 10 minutes.
- The Lady Bucs got back in the game with a 7-2 spurt in the opening stages of the second quarter, but DSU scored five of the last six points to take a 34-27 lead into halftime. Rafaella
   Angelidou scored 10 of CBU's 17 points in the second frame.
-  CBU took advantage of the Lady Statesmen converting just 4-of-13 from the floor, outscoring DSU 20-12 in the quarter, to take a 47-46 lead into the final frame.
-  The Lady Statesmen never trailed by more than three points, and held CBU to just two points over the final 6:05 to get the win.


NOTABLES:
- The 23 points for Jordan are a career high.
- DSU finished with a season low six turnovers. The six miscues are the lowest for DSU since committing just five against Valdosta State on Feb. 4, 2017.
- The Lady Statesmen have outscored opponents 316-290 in the first quarter this season.
- The 61 points for the Lady Statesmen are a season high.
