CLEVELAND, Miss. – Lee University outpaced the Delta State University women's basketball team 30-17 in the first half, and never looked back in securing a 54-42 victory over the Lady Statesmen on Saturday afternoon at Walter Sillers Coliseum in Gulf South Conference action.

TURNING POINT:
- The Lady Flames held the lead wire-to-wire, scoring the opening basket on a three-pointer by Lindsey Roddy en route to the twelve-point win on the road.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen went 10-for-28 from the floor (21 percent), including a 2-for-13 mark from three. DSU added a 20-for-28 (71 percent) mark from the free throw line.
- Lee was 19-for-56 ( 34 percent) from the field and 7-for-29 (24 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. The Lady Flames went 9-for-13 (69 percent) from the charity stripe.
- Lee outrebounded Delta State 42-37, and outscored DSU 24-10 in the paint.
- The Lady Flames forced 10 Delta State turnovers and scored eight points off those turnovers.
- Takisha Jordan led the way with 13 points, and Alondrea Rush added 10 points for DSU.
- Erin Walsh led the way for the Lady Flames, pouring in 15 first-half points. She finished with 19 fo the visitors. Shelby Brown and Lindsey Roddy each added nine points.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- Erin Walsh and the Lady Flames jumped out to a 9-4 lead with 5:05 left in the first quarter, and built a six-point lead, 14-8, after one quarter of play.
- Walsh knocked down a pair of three pointers and scored eight points in the opening quarter, and added seven more second quarter points as Lee outscored DSU 16-9 in the second quarter.
- Lee's half court trapping defense stymied the Lady Statesmen in the first half, as DSU turned it over seven times in the half and took a 30-17 lead at the break.
- The visitors used a 8-0 run to open the second half of action, but Delta State outscored the Flames 10-8 over the final 5:17 of the third.
- Sporting a 44-27 lead heading into the final quarter of play, Delta State outscored Lee 15-10 and held the Lady Flames scoreless over the game's final 3:30.
NOTABLES:
- Despite the loss, the Lady Statesmen clinched a spot in the GSC playoffs, as Christian Brothers fell to Auburn Montgomery on the road.
- Takisha Jordan scored in double-figures for the 21st time this season.
