Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala -- West Florida scored three runs in the fourth inning and held on to defeat the Delta University softball team 3-1 on the final day of the Gulf South Conference Opening Weekend Festival, on Sunday at Lagoon Park.

FINAL SCORE: WEST FLORIDA 3, DELTA STATE 1
 
GAME CHANGER:
- UWF strung together four hits with two outs in the fourth inning, including a pair of triples and two singles.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen outhit UWF 6-5.
- Kaitlyn Eaves (2-for-4) led the Lady Statesmen at the plate.
- Mari Alex Sandridge (1-4) allowed three runs on four hits in 3.2 innings. Madison Bigner allowed just one hit in 2.1 innings of relief.
- UWF failed to capitalize on five DSU walks and an error.
- The Lady Statesmen left nine runners on base.

KEY PLAYS:
- UWF scored its first run when Tiona Hill, who reached on a two out triple, scored on a by Jibrasha Moore. The second triple of the inning, by Rachel Wright, scored Moore and Meghan Toney had an RBI single to finish the scoring.
- The Lady Statesmen scored their lone run of the game on an RBI single by Eaves.
 
NOTEWORTHY:
- The Lady Statesmen failed to record an extra base hit for just the fourth time this year.
- DSU has now lost three games in which it outhit its opponent.

NEXT TIME OUT:
- After having a non-conference doubleheader with Miles College postponed on Friday, Feb. 16, DSU is now scheduled to make up the games on Monday, Feb. 19. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
