MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks defeated No. 35 Delta State, 6-3, handing the Statesmen their first Gulf South Conference loss of the season on Friday, March 23, at the AUM Tennis Complex in Montgomery, Ala.  
 
The Statesmen had the edge in doubles, after clinching the No. 3 doubles win by default. 
Emile Le Terrier and 
Hugo Stroppiana cushioned the Statesmen's lead with an 8-3 win on court one. AUM cut Delta State's lead in half with an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles to conclude doubles play.
 
The momentum switched in the singles competition, as AUM began to take the lead. The Statesmen won singles No. 6 by default, but the Warhawks took victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles to tie the match, 3-3. 
Hugo Stroppiana was defeated at No. 2 singles, putting AUM on top, 4-3. 
Emile Le Terrier won the first set, but couldn't hold on to a match win at No. 1 singles, and Alvaro Terron, clinched the match point for AUM. 
Joao Yamacita tried to conclude the contest with a win at No. 5 singles, but was defeated in three sets. AUM won the match, 6-3.

	- Delta State falls to 8-2 and 5-1 in the GSC.

- The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for the Statesmen.
- Today's loss also marks the first Gulf South Conference loss for the Statesmen this season.
