@DELTASTATEMBB Signs Familiar Face in Will Midlick

CLEVELAND, Miss. - With a host of returners set to come back after reaching the Gulf South Conference title game, the Delta State University men's basketball team has announced the signing of a familiar face in Will Midlick for the upcoming season.

Midlick, a 6-foot-3, 175 pound guard from Clarksville, Tenn., is the son of former Lady Statesmen basketball coach David Midlick, who now serves in the same role at Austin Peay State University.

A team captain this past season and a 1,000-point scorer for his career at Rossview High School, Midlick helped his team to a school record 25 wins against just seven losses in 2018.

"Will became just the 4th 1,000 point scorer in Rossview history, doing it in 3 years. He helped lead the Hawks to a school record for wins this year, led the team in scoring and is a tremendous shooter," said Will's Rossview coach, Johnny Jackson. "Will has a very high basketball IQ and will bring a great work ethic with him."

Midlick averaged 17.0 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game, while shooting a 40 percent clip from three-point territory and adding an 84 percent mark from the free throw line. He also earned back-to-back All-District honors in 2017 and 2018.

He was selected to the All-Tournament Team in District 10AAA in 2016 and again this past season, was selected to take part in the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee All-Star (BCAT) game. He was also a Tennessee Prep Hoops All-Region Team honoree in Region 5AAA.

Midlick earned back-to-back Leaf Chronicle All-Area First Team selections in 2017 and 2018, and head coach Jim Boone and his staff are excited about adding a player of Will's caliber to the program.

"Will is a coach's kid who knows Delta State, the Delta State Community, and what it means to be a Statesmen," said Boone. "We are so excited to have Will as a part of our DSU family. He embodies who we are and what we are to the nth degree, and we are looking forward to having him wear the Green-and-White."
