PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 9 Valdosta State University men's tennis team defeated Delta State 5-0 Saturday, April 7, in Pensacola, Fla.
The Blazers took the lead after the doubles competition.
Joao Yamacita and
Andrew Hildenbrand were close to winning their doubles match, but the Blazers ultimately came out on top.
With a 3-0 lead heading into the singles competition, Valdosta State needed only two more points to clinch the match win. The Statesmen started to gain momentum in the singles competition, but
Emile Le Terrier and Yamacita were defeated at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, handing Valdosta State the match win. While the Statesmen were leading in the other singles matches, play was suspended after the Blazers clinched the match point.
