CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's soccer team is set to open Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a swing through the state of Alabama.
The Statesmen will play their first night game of the year as they take on the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Friday September 14 at 7:30 P.M. at Charger Park. Then on Sunday September 16
th, DSU will travel to Livingston, Ala. to battle the Tigers of West Alabama.

INSIDE THE SERIES:
- West Alabama holds a 5-1-1 advantage all-time over the Statesmen, falling 2-0 in Cleveland, Miss. in their last matchup last season.
- Alabama Huntsville is 15-2 in the all-time series over Delta State, knocking off the Statesmen 4-0 a year ago.

- The defending conference champion Tigers are 2-0-1 overall on the season.
- West Alabama's only blemish is a tie to Eckerd College.

- The two losses have come to nationally ranked teams, Lander University and Lynn University, both by just one goal.
- UAH is led by Rafa Moreno, who is a sophomore from Atequera, Spain. He has four of the first nine goals for the Chargers
- The Chargers lost the 2017 GSC Title game to West Alabama on penalty kicks.
