CLEVELAND, Miss. – After a tough double time loss to Mississippi College last week, the Statesmen are back at home for a pair of weekend matches. The Statesmen are led by freshman
Carlos Bestard who has two goals and nine shots so far.
Myron Duffy,
Lorenz Kopp, and
Bruno Osorio each have a goal for the Statesmen. On Friday the Flames of Lee University come calling to Parker-Field McCool Stadium for a game under the lights. That game will be followed with a Sunday afternoon contest against the Shorter University Hawks.

INSIDE THE SERIES:
- Shorter owns a 5-1 advantage over Delta State in the all-time series, having edged the Statesmen 1-0 last season.
- DSU carries an 0-5-1 record all-time against Lee, losing last years matchup 3-0 in Tennessee.
ABOUT LEE:
- Lee comes into the contest with a 5-2-1 overall record and a 3-0 GSC record.
- All three GSC wins have been shutouts with the Flames outscoring their opponents 11-0
- Lee is being led by freshman Aidan Moore who has five goals on 20 shots this season.
- Last year the Flames went 6-6-4 so they are one win away from matching last year's output.
ABOUT SHORTER:
- The Hawks have yet to get into the win column this year, to Lee, Montevallo, and Auburn Montgomery to open GSC play.
- The Hawks have been outscored 27-7 this season.
- Jackson Wheatley and Thallison Alex both have a pair of goals to lead the way for Shorter.

After games against Lee and Shorter, the Statesmen are on the road again with games against Union (Tenn.) and Christian Brothers. The Statesmen travel to Jackson, Tenn. for a 7:15 p.m. game on Oct. 5 against the Bulldogs, and then head down to Memphis, Tenn. for a 3 p.m. game on Oct. 7 against the Bucs.
