GAME NOTES: Lady Statesmen at AUM, UAH (1.31.19-2.2.19)
CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Delta State University women's basketball (12-7, 7-5 GSC) heads to the state of Alabama for two Gulf South Conference contests beginning with Auburn University at Montgomery (2-17, 1-10 GSC) on Thurs., Jan., 31 in Montgomery, Ala., before taking on the University of Alabama Huntsville (8-9, 6-5 GSC) on Sat., Feb. 2 in Huntsville, Ala.

LADY STATESMEN REWIND: The Green-and-White posted a 2-0 week defeating Alabama Huntsville, 71-68, and Lee University, 57-36. The Lady Statesmen got a steal and 3-point play from Alondrea Rush with .5 seconds left in regulation to upend UAH. Delta State held Lee University to a season and program low 36 points, as the Lady Statesmen (12-7, 7-5 GSC) defeated the Flames (16-4, 10-2 GSC) 57-36 on Sat., Jan. 26 at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Nia Johnson scored a game-high 16 points while freshman Kirstin Brown collected a career-high 12 rebounds in the victory over GSC Co-Leader. Delta State out-rebounded Lee 45-37 and outscored the Flames 28-10 in the paint. The 36 points by the Lady Flames was the lowest output in program history. The previous low was 38 at Southern Polytechnic State University on Feb. 17, 2011.
INSIDE THE AUM SERIES: Delta State and Auburn Montgomery meet for the fifth time with the series even 2-2. The Warhawks (then known as the Senators) and the Lady Statesmen first met on Dec. 31, 1994 with AUM claiming a 111-75 win in Montgomery, Ala. The two teams met once again the next season in 1995 with AUM edging the Lady Statesmen 70-68 in Cleveland, Miss. Delta State swept the two meetings last season, taking a 50-43 win on the road before a 76-56 win at Walter Sillers.
INSIDE THE UAH SERIES: Delta State leads the all-time series 21-5 and has won the last two meetings in Huntsville, Ala. Alondrea Rush's steal, basket and free throw with .5 seconds left handed the lady Statesmen a 71-68 win a week ago in Cleveland, Miss. Delta State is 4-4 all-time but has dropped the last two meetings at Spragins Hall in Huntsville, Ala. UAH claimed a 77-62 on Jan., 26. 2017 in DSU last visit. The Lady Statesmen's last win at UAH was a 67-49 win on Jan. 5, 2015.
