Zyaire Ewing posted a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds to help the Delta State University women's basketball team (13-7, 8-5 GSC) to a 71-47 win over Auburn University at Montgomery (2-18, 1-11 GSC) on Thurs., Jan. 31 at the AUM Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks held a 13-10 on a Kendra Boone jump shot with 3:54 remaining in the first quarter.
- Delta State outscored AUM 8-3 over the final 3:50 to take an 18-16 lead on a Nia Johnson basket with 15 seconds to go in the first quarter.
- Boone's basket capped a 7-2 run to put Auburn Montgomery ahead 23-20 at the 6:55 mark of the second quarter.
- The Warhawks led 27-26 with 4:05 to go before the Lady Statesmen outscored AUM 11-2 to close the half with a 35-29 lead.
- A 12-2 Delta State run to start the third quarter run helped the Lady Statesmen build a 47-31 lead on a Quantesha Patterson layup midway through the period.
- The Lady Statesmen outscored the Warhawks 25-10 and shot 43 percent to take a 50-39 lead into the final stanza.
- Ewing scored six of the Lady Statesmen's 11 points as the Lady Statesmen outscored AUM 11-8 in the fourth quarter.
TURNING POINT
- The Lady Statesmen's 24-4 run that included an 11-2 run to close the second quarter and a 12-2 run to begin the third quarter turned a 27-26 deficit into a 47-31 lead through three-quarters.
STAT OF THE GAME
- The Lady Statesmen shot 43 percent and outscored Auburn Montgomery 25-10 in the third quarter to stretch a six-point lead into a 21-point advantage.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Ewing posted her second double-double scoring a career-high 20 points with a career-best 11 rebounds while equaling a career-high with two steals.
- The double-double was the 10th recorded by a Lady Statesmen this season.
- Johnson finished with 15 points and a career-high seven assists followed by Ernesha Chatman with 13 points.
- Tamia Cunigan grabbed a career-high nine boards while Frederica Haywood had eight.
- The Lady Statesmen got 41 points off the bench to AUM's five bench points.
- Delta State outrebounded AUM 47-25 and outscored the Warhawks 38-12 in the paint.
- Evelina Avleeva led AUM with 11 points and nine rebounds
