Lady Statesmen Fall to UAH on the Road

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Delta State University women's basketball team dropped their fifth road game of the season with a 82-73 loss at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Chargers jumped out to a fast 11-0 run to start the game. Forcing a timeout from the Lady Statesmen. DSU started the game 0-7 from the field.
  • After that DSU responded and scored 10 points in the last five minutes while holding UAH to just 8 points the remainder of the first quarter.
  • UAH then went on a 9-0 run to start the second quarter and made it a 19 point lead.
  • DSU slowly started cutting into the lead and made it 35-30 with 2:27 left in the first half.
  • UAH ended the half on a 6-2 run to lead 41-32.
  • The Chargers opened the third quarter on a 9-2 run to extend the lead back to 50-34.
  • After having the deficit go back out to 17, DSU made it a ten point game after three quarters.
  • DSU cut it down to a three point lead for UAH with 7 minutes to go with buckets from Quantesha Patterson and Frederica Haywood, but UAH then answered on a 7-0 run to take the lead back out to 10.
  • After that DSU could never cut the lead below seven points as UAH pulled out the victory.

TURNING POINT
  • The 11-0 run to start the game for UAH gave them a lead they never relinquished.
 
STAT OF THE GAME
  • The Lady Statesmen never led in the ball game as the Chargers scored one minute in and never looked back.
