MEMPHIS, Tenn. –
Nia Johnson and
Quantesha Patterson combined for 37 points to lead the Delta State Women's basketball team (6-1) to a 65-47 win over the LeMoyne Owen (1-4) on Thursday.
Johson led the Lady Statesmen with 19 points while Patterson had 18 points and 16 rebounds her fifth double-double of the season and 11
th of her career.
Zyaire Ewing grabbed 13 rebounds along with nine points and three blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Glenda Gardner shot gave LeMoyne Owen an early 5 lead with 5:21 left in the first quarter.
- Johnson's field goal cut the deficit down to 13-11 at the 4:03 mark of the first quarter.
- Patterson tied the game at 15-15 before Gabbie Morgan sank two free throws with three seconds left to give LOC a 17-15 lead after one quarter.
- Delta State shot 64 percent the field in the second quarter while outscoring the Magicians 23-5 in the second quarter to take a 38-22 lead at the half.
- Zyaire Ewing's layup with just over 7:00 remaining in the third quarter opened up a 45-27 for the Lady Statesmen.
- Delta State did not allow LeMoyne Owen to get within 15 points the rest of the way, grabbing its biggest lead of 21 points on a Raven Johnson field goal with 2:13 to go.
TURNING POINT
- The Lady Statesmen turned at two-point deficit into a 38-22 halftime lead by outscoring the Magicians 23-5 in the second quarter.
