Box Score 2 ROME, GA- Delta State Softball was back on the road for a series at the Alto Park Softball Complex in Rome, Georgia against Shorter University. The series began with a double header on Saturday March 2, 2019 at 2 pm.
The Lady Hawks took game one 4-2 despite a three-inning shutout performance by
Brittany Taylor who entered the game to relive
Nicole Fullilove.
Shorter went on to win game two 7-0. The Lady Statesmen were able to keep it at a one run deficit for most of the game until the Lady Hawks got their bats going in the later innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM1)
- Alexis Sewell plated the first run of the game for Shorter after her RBI double to center field.
- In the bottom of the third Kiera Dudley's three run home run extended the Shorter lead 4-0.
- The Lady Statesmen plated their first run in the top of the second when Mari Alex Sandridge plated Ta'mya Johnson with and RBI single to left field.
- The Lady Statesmen scored their second run in the top of the seventh after Jordan Jones' sacrifice fly to center field drove in Mallory Myers.

ON THE MOUND (GM1)
- Nicole Fullilove (5-6) received the loss for the Lady Statesmen. She gave up four runs off six hits in three innings of work.
- Brittany Taylor came in to relive Fullilove in the bottom of the fourth. Taylor threw a shutout three innings only giving up one hit and striking out two.
- Payton Lippert (8-3) got the win for Shorter University after giving up two runs off five hits through seven innings.
NOTEABLES (GM1)
- With a walk in the first inning Kelly Byrd has reached base in seventeen straight games.
- Jordan Jones (2-4) was the only Lady Statesmen with a multi-hit game. Jones now has six multi-hit games this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM2)
- Shorter took an early one run lead in the bottom of the first after an HBP drove in a run.
- The Lady Hawks scored their second run in the bottom of the sixth after a DSU error at second base.
- Shorter scored their final five runs in the bottom of the sixth. The first run was driven in after an RBI single by Ashley Langel. Sydney Poston plated the next two runs with a two-run double to left field. The final two runs for shorter were driven in by Dani Lukas' two-run single to center field.

ON THE MOUND vs. (GM2)
- Mari Alex Sandridge (5-3) started for Delta State, she got the loss after allowing seven runs off six hits, while striking out six during six innings of work.
- Julie Sanderlin (3-2) received the win for Shorter. Sanderlin gave up four hits through seven innings.

NOTEABLES (GM2)
- Abi Gibson (2-4) was the only Lady Statesmen with a multi-hit game. Gibson now has four multi-hit games this season.
