CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University guard
Brett Warner continues to add to his list of accomplishments on the hardwood, as the senior was named to the 2018-2019 All-Gulf South Conference Second Team on Tuesday, March 5. The complete list of GSC award recipients is listed below.
Warner recently passed former teammate P.J. Davis (2014-2018/1,350) for eighth on the career scoring list with 1,368 points after pouring in 18 versus Mississippi College. The Collierville, Tenn., native also moved past another former teammate,
Jack Madgen (2012-2016), for third on the career 3-pointers made with 193 after going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc against the Choctaws.
The 6-foot-2 shooting guard also ranks second in career 3-point attempts (552), eighth in games played (114) and needs six assists to crack the top 10 in that category.
Warner led the Statesmen to the No. 5 seed in the Gulf South Conference Tournament after averaging 14.0 points per game, which ranks 10th in the GSC.
He is the fourth Statesman to join the 1,000 point club under coach
Jim Boone, joining former All-American
Devin Schmidt, DSU's all-time leading scorer with 2,594 points, P.J. Davis and
Jack Madgen (2012-16/1,163).
The 2019 GSC postseason awards were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.
