CLEVELAND, Tenn. –Senior lefty
Dalton Minton tossed a complete game shutout to lead No. 16/19 Delta State University baseball (25-10, 14-8 GSC) claimed a 6-0 win over Lee University (17-21, 8-10 GSC on Sunday at Olympic Field.
The senior from Horn Lake, Miss., tied a season-high with eight strikeouts and scattered six hits over 9.0 innings for his second complete game.
The Statesmen bounced back from a 13-3 loss in game one to register back-to-back shutouts to claim the series 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless until the fourth inning. Patrick Hodges belted a solo home run with one out to give the Statesmen a 1-0 lead.
- Two runs scored in the seventh to push the lead to 3-0. David Herrington reached on an error and scored on a Jake Barlow double. Barlow moved to third on a groundout and scored when Matt Majeur reached on a throwing error.
- The Green-and-White padded the lead with a three-run ninth. Herrington led off with a single and later scored on a Hodges single while two runs scored on a throwing error.
ON THE MOUND
- Minton (6-2) tied a season-high with eight strikeouts against two walks while scattering six hits over a season-high nine innings to earn the win.
- Michael Hendricks (3-6) gave up one run on two hits and had five strikeouts against five walks to take the loss for Lee.
NOTEABLES
- Hodges went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, including his first career home run in the fourth inning.
- Herrington went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Barlow was 2-for-4 with an RBI double.
- Delta State posted back-to-back shutouts in a series for the first time since 2017 when the Statesmen closed the series against the University of West Florida (4-14/4-15) series with 6-0 and 8-0 wins in Pensacola, Fla.
- The Green-and-White posted two shutouts on a series for the second time this season, dating back to (7-0, 5-0) Union University series on March 23-24.
- The Statesmen improved 11-6 overall and 6-3 at Olympic Field against the Flames.
