Statesmen Head to the Natural State for Two Non-Conference Games

CLEVELAND, Miss.- The Delta State University men's soccer team heads to Arkansas for two games against Great American Conference opponents this Friday and Sunday. The Statesmen are looking for their first victory of the season.

INSIDE THE SERIES: This will be the 14th time DSU will play Ouachita Baptist. The Statesmen have seven win and six losses to the Tigers. Last season the Statesmen beat OBU 3-2 in Cleveland, Miss. Bruno Osorio scored two and Louis Ferguson scored the third in the victory for the Statesmen. DSU is 3-2 all time in Arkadelphia.
 
Delta State is 1-7-2 all-time against Harding University. Last year against the Bison, DSU lost 3-2 in Searcy, Ark. Delta State has never won at Harding.
 
LAST TIME OUT:  The Statesmen dropped a game to UT Tyler 3-0 to open the season. DSU had eight shots on goal in the loss but could not find the back of the net. 
 
INSIDE THE OPPONENTS: OBU comes into the game 0-2. They opened the season at Missouri S&T and lost 2-1. The Tigers scored a goal in the 85thminute to tie it up but lost in overtime. Then they lost Drury 1-0 giving up a goal in the 82nd minute.
 
Harding opened the season with a win over William Jewell 3-1 on the road. They out shot their opponent 26-11 with 11 shots compared to four on goal. William Jewel scored first but then Harding scored three straight. Harding will play Mississippi College before playing the Statesmen.
