CLEVELAND, Miss -- The No. 15 Delta State University women's basketball (14-2, 7-2 GSC) hits the road this week for two key GSC game against the University of Alabama Huntsville (7-8, 4-5 GSC) and No. 7/5 Lee University (17-1, 9-1 GSC). The Lady Statesmen begin the road swing against Alabama Huntsville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Huntsville, ala. before taking on Lee University at 1 p.m. in Cleveland, Tenn.
LADY STATESMEN REWIND: Delta State went 1-1 last week falling to No. 21 Union University 62-59 against on Thurs., Jan. 16th at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
Quantesha Patterson had a career-high night with 26 points and recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 15 rebounds.
Nia Johnson had a career-high 26 points while Patterson scored 19 points to go along with a career-high 22 rebounds as the Lady Statesmen clipped Christian Brothers, 89-95, in overtime on Saturday.
Zyaire Ewing had 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Shaniyah Buford tallied a career-high 15 points.
APPROACHING MILESTONES: Lady Statesmen Head Coach
Craig Roden collected his 597th career-win following DSU's 89-85 overtime win over Chrsitian Brothers (1.18.2020). Roden needs three wins to earn his 600th career, three wins for 400 Division II wins and one for 100 wins at DSU. The Guntersville, Ala., native has 96 wins at Delta State and with four more wins will become the first coach in GSC history to have 100 wins at three different GSC member schools.
GSC WEEKLY HONORS: Quantesha Patterson was named the GSC's Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season on Tuesday, Jan. 21. The Maben Miss., native scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 62-59 loss to No 21 Union on Thursday. Patterson capped the week off with 19 points and a career-high 22 rebounds in an 89-85 overtime win over Christian Brothers on Saturday.
IN THE PAINT: The Lady Statesmen lead the GSC in offensive boards per game (16.8/13th NCAA) and rebounds per game (46.8/7th NCAA) while ranking 3rd in rebound margin (12.7/16th NCAA) and 3rd in rebounds (668/23rd NCAA). The duo of

Zyaire Ewing are proving to be a force in the paint, combining for 29.1 points and 24.5 rebounds per game. Patterson leads the GSC in rebounds per game (14.3/2nd NCAA), offensive rebounds (6.1/2nd NCAA), total rebounds (228/1st NCAA) and defensive rebounds (8.1/10th NCAA). The Maben, Miss., is 8th in the GSC in scoring (15.4). Ewing is 4th in the GSC defensive rebounds per game (7.2/17th NCAA), 4th in rebounds per game (10.6/17th NCAA), and 3rd in rebounds (169/ 17th NCAA). Ewing is 2nd in blocked shots per game (2.0/ 28th NCAA) and blocked shots (32/27th NCAA).
D-FENCE: The Green-and-White are 1st in 3-point field goal percentage defense (26.3/ 18th NCAA)while ranking 2nd in the GSC in scoring defense (59.0/49th NCAA) field goal percentage defense (34.4/19th NCAA). The Lady Statesmen led the NCAA in 2015-16 (50.3) and 2013-14 (53.7), ranked 2nd in 2011-12 (51.4), 5th in 2014-15 (55.7), 10th in 2017-18 (56.5) and 16th in 2016-17 (57.1). Since 2011-12, the Lady Statesmen have ranked in the top 10 in scoring defense five of the last eight years.
