PREVIEW: Lady Statesmen Set To Host UAH and AUM

GAME NOTES vs. UAH/AUM
CLEVELAND, Miss. --
The  Delta State University women's basketball (14-4, 7-4 GSC) looks to get back on its winning ways hosting the University of Alabama Huntsville (9-8, 6-5 GSC) and Auburn University at Montgomery (10-9, 3-8 GSC). The Lady Statesmen will host Alabama  Huntsville on Thursday at 5:30 before hosting Auburn University at Montgomery  at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
UAH - AUM 1

INSIDE THE SERIES: The Lady Statesmen and Alabama Huntsville meet for the second time in a week with the Lady Statesmen owning a 21-8 overall record against the Chargers.  UAH edged Delta State 55-51 in Huntsville, Ala., last week and has won the last meetings between the schools. The Lady Statesmen hold a 4-2 advantage heading into the seventh meeting against the Warhawks.  Delta State is 14-0 against UAH and 2-1 against AUM at Walter Sillers in the series

AT THE SILL: The Lady Statesmen are 9-1 this season at Walter Sillers Coliseum with the only loss coming to Union University, 62-69.  Delta State is averaging 75.1 points per game and has a +8 rebound margin.  The Lady Statesmen are shooting 42.4 percent overall and  30.9 percent from beyond  the arc as compared to 38 percent overall and 23 percent from beyond the arc on the road.  Zyaire Ewing averages 16.1 points and 10.1  rebounds followed by Quantesha Patterson's 15.5 points and 15 rebounds and Nia Johnson's 13.5 points per game.

CLOSING IN:  Lady Statesmen Head Coach Craig Roden sits with 597th career-win following DSU's 89-85 win over Christian Brothers (1.18.2020).  Roden needs three wins to earn his 600th career, three wins for 400 Division II wins and one for 100 wins at DSU.

IN THE PAINT: The Lady Statesmen lead the GSC in offensive boards per game (16.1/20th NCAA) and rebounds per game (45.5/11th NCAA) while ranking 4th in rebound margin (9.8/55th NCAA) and rebounds (820/22nd NCAA). The duo of Quantesha Patterson and Zyaire Ewing are proving to be a force in the paint, combining for 29.1 points and 24.5 rebounds per game. Patterson leads the GSC in rebounds per game (13.2/4th NCAA), and offensive rebounds (5.7/2nd NCAA), ranks 2nd in rebounds (238/5th NCAA) and 3rd in defensive rebounds (7.6/19th NCAA). The Maben, Miss., is 13th in the GSC in scoring (14.6). The Lady Statesmen led the NCAA in 2015-16 (50.3) and 2013-14 (53.7), ranked 2nd in 2011-12 (51.4), 5th in 2014-15 (55.7), 10th in 2017-18 (56.5) and 16th in 2016-17 (57.1). Since 2011-12, the Lady Statesmen have ranked in the top 10 in scoring defense five of the last eight years.
