Gulf South Conference Announces Women's Basketball Schedule

Lady Statesmen Set for Conference-Only Slate

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Gulf South Conference Board of Directors has approved a 20-game conference schedule for women's basketball beginning on December 9, 2020.

For the 2020-21 academic year, the GSC will utilize divisional play in basketball. The schedule will feature a combination of single game matchups and two-game series against the same opponents on consecutive days at the same location. The format is intended to streamline testing protocols and reduce travel costs.

Additionally, the conference will implement a mirrored schedule, with the men and women playing at opposite sites, eliminating all doubleheaders.

With no change to the schedule for NCAA Regionals, the GSC Basketball Championships will keep their dates, with the quarterfinals set to begin on March 2, 2021. More information on those tournaments will be released closer to that time.

The Lady Statesmen open the campaign with three out of four weekends on the road, beginning the season with a pair of games against the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala. After that, Delta State hosts Mississippi College before the Christmas holiday on Dec. 18 and 19 at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

The Green and White return to action on Jan.8 and 9 for a pair of games at Union University (Tenn.), and then travel to Huntsville, Ala., to take on the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Jan. 15 and 16.

Delta State returns home to host Christian Brothers University and Alabama-Huntsville on Jan. 22 and 23 and Jan. 29 and 30, respectively, before a trip to Christian Brothers on Feb. 5 and 6. DSU closes out the regular season hosting Union (Feb. 12 and 13), traveling to Mississippi College (Feb. 19 and 20), and hosting West Alabama (Feb. 26 and 27).
