CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University Lady Statesmen dropped a heartbreaker to Mississippi College on Friday night 63-62, as a Camryn Davis jump shot went in and out before time expired.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Delta State scored the first bucket of the game on a jumper by Zyaire Ewing.
• Mississippi College then answered with a 7-0 run to take a five-point lead.
• The Lady Statesmen chipped away, as Alanna Smith scored nailed a three-point bucket to give DSU the lead back.
• After one quarter of play, the Lady Statesmen led 16-14.
• In the second quarter, the Lady Statesmen stretched the lead to five points behind a pair of three points shots by Shaniyah Buford.
• MC answered with a 5-0 run of its own to head into the halftime break tied at 31.
• The two teams traded the lead four times in the opening minutes of the third quarter as MC built a 44-40 lead.
• Davis then rattled off six straight points for the Green and White to tie the ball game at 46-46.
• The teams then traded the lead several times in the final quarter before a Buford bucket, her 22nd and 23rd points on the night, gave DSU a 62-58 advantage.
• MC made five free throws in the game's final 90 seconds to take the 63-62 lead with 17 seconds to go.
• DSU got the final shot of the game but Davis' jumper rattled out and MC ran out the clock to earn the victory.

• In the game's final three minutes of the game, MC made five free throws to earn the win. Delta State did not score in the game's final two and a half minutes.

• Shaniyah Buford rattled off 23 points, a career-high, to pace the Lady Statesmen.
