CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team powered past Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon behind a career high 32 points from
Quantesha Patterson. The Maben, Miss. native was a season-best 14-for-16 from the free throw line and added 16 rebounds in the second straight win over Lady Blazers this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams had a quick pace to start the game. Zyaire Ewing had seven points including her second 3-pointer of the season as DSU held an early 17-10 lead with 3:35 to go in the first quarter.
- Delta State shot 10-of-18 from the field in the quarter to take a 25-16 lead into the second quarter. Quantesha Patterson led the Green and White with ine points and eight rebounds in the first 10 minutes.
- Both teams went cold to start the second quarter. With 4:50 to go in the quarter, VSU was 1-for-9 and the Lady Statesmen were 0-for-7 from the field. But three free throws gave DSU a 28-20 lead
- The last five minutes of the half were a series of runs. Valdosta went on a 6-0 run answered by a 6-0 run from Delta State. Patterson had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Ewing added eight points and nine rebounds at the half.
- A fast break layup from Shainyah Buford forced a timeout from Valdosta State early in the third quarter as DSU extended the lead to 43-36.
- Delta State held Valdosta State to just two points over the last eight minutes of the third to lead 55-38 after 30 minutes.
- In the fourth quarter, Valdosta State remained scoreless for the first 1:30 and that allowed the Lady Statesmen to pull out to a 20-point lead.
- DSU outscored the Lady Blazers 19-13 in the final quarter for the 73-51 victory.

- The Lady Statesmen held Valdosta State to just two points the final eight minutes and four total points in the third quarter.

- Quantesha Patterson was 9-for-12 from the field and had a career-high 32 points while making 14-of-16 free throws.
