CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Auburn University at Montgomery scored a run in the sixth inning and five in the seventh to knock off the Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball team 8-2 on Friday night in game one of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AUM's Abby Krueger homered early, sending a shot to right field to bring home Hannah Dailey and make it 2-0.
- In the top of the sixth, Jaycie Walker added a solo home run to extend AUM's lead to 3-0.
- In the home half of the sixth, after Olivia Dick reached on an error, Taylor Picou hit a two-run home run to center to pull the Lady Statesmen within a run. It was Picou's fourth home run of the season.
- The Warhawks responded, however, as Kendall Tucker belted a grand slam to make it 7-2. Olivia Aycock then hit a double to left field that plated Dailey and made it 8-2.
ON THE MOUND:
- Olivia Burns (2-9) allowed seven runs on six hits through 6.1 innings. She had two strike outs and no walks.
- Emily Baker came on in relief and worked two-thirds of an inning. She yielded a run on two hits.
- Alanna Goble (6-2) started for the Warhawks and gave up two runs on four hits through six innings.
- Cydney Sizemore came on in relief for AUM and went one inning and only gave up one hit.
NOTABLES:
- Taylor Picou notched her fourth home run of the season. She is tied for fifth in the GSC in that category.
