CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University women's basketball program and head coach
Craig Roden announced the signing of Patrice Broomfield, a Clarksdale High School product, on Friday, April 24, 2020.
"We are very excited to add Patrice to this class," said Roden. "She is a great scorer and floor leader, and she is a guard that has the chance to come in and develop into a good scorer in our league."
Academically, Broomfield is a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars. On the floor, Broomfield was the 3-4A District MVP after helping lead her team to a District Championship. She was also selected All-District and was the 3-4A Offensive Player of the Year in 2018-2019.
Broomfield averaged 13.8 points per game in her CHS career, and also added 3.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. She was also an All-Region selection her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons, and added a District Championship in 5A in 2016-2017, her sophomore campaign. In addition Broomfield twice collected team MVP honors, in her sophomore and junior seasons.
"Broomfield led her team to the state tournament this season and was the team's go-to player down the stretch," Roden said. "We think she can come in and do some of the same things for us and we are excited about that."
