CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire and defeated Christian Brothers 89-69. The Lady Statesmen shot 70 percent from the floor for the contest.
Zyaire Ewing led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds as she turned in her seventh consecutive double-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DSU scored the first five points of the game after a bucket and free throw from Camryn Davis to take the lead.
- The Lady Statesmen then went on a seven-point surge late in the first quarter to maintain their lead.
- Davis sank a jumper with three seconds left to make it 20-16.
- Lady Statesmen continued to push, and used a 12-point run in the second quarter.
- Shaniyah Buford sank the three-point with 19 seconds left on the clock to extend the lead 47-29 at the half.
- Delta State led 58-37 with 5:08 left in the third quarter, and Alanna Smith made a jumper to push it to 70-44, with 1:20 left in the third.
- With 3:08 left in the game, Smith hit both free-throws, to extend the lead to its largest margin of the night at 88-61.
TURNING POINT
- The Green and White used a 16-8 run to push the lead out to 38-24 in the second quarter, and the lead never went back under 14 points.
STAT OF THE GAME
- In the second quarter, the Lady Statesmen went 12-of-14 (86 percent) from the field.
NOTABLES
- Davis was six-for-six from the field and had a career-high 16 points.
- Smith was also six-for-six from the field and had a career-high 14 points.
- Ewing had a game high 22 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh straight double-double. Ewing has five games this season with 20-plus points and double-digit rebounds.
