Zyaire Ewing registered her fifth straight double-double of the season, but it was not enough as the Delta State University women's basketball team fell 66-54 to Union (Tenn.) at Fred Delay Gym.
Ewing and
Shaniyah Buford both had 15 points to lead the Lady Statesmen. Jaelencia Williams had a game-high 18 points for Union.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A pair of early three-point shots by Union (Tenn.) pushed the Lady Bulldogs out a 13-7 first quarter lead.
- Union continued to push in the opening period, and used a 7-2 spurt to take a 20-9 lead into the second stanza.
- The two teams traded baskets, but a pair of Brysa Maxwell free throws with 5:39 left in the second got the Lady Statesmen within nine.
- The Lady Bulldogs took that nine-point advantage into the locker room with a 31-22 lead at the break.
- A five-point spurt out of the locker room after the half, with a Buford three-pointer and a TK Hicks bucket, got DSU within five at 32-27.
- Union had every answer, however, as they worked the lead back to 14 before taking another nine-point advantage into the fourth quarter.
- A Hicks jumper at the 6:43 mark of the fourth trimmed the Lady Bulldogs lead to seven, but Union took control the rest of the game 17-12 to secure the win.
TURNING POINT
- Emily Beard for Union hit three consecutive three-point shots to balloon a five-point Union lead to 12 in the fourth quarter.
STAT OF THE GAME
- Union outrebounded DSU 40-30 and outscored the Lady Statesmen 36-12 in the paint. Union also had 12 fast break points to just two for the Green and White.

- Ewing earned her fifth double-double of the season, as she tallied 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.
