Box Score ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Delta State University women's basketball team used a 28-point fourth quarter to pull away and defeat Mississippi Valley State University 77-66 in exhbition action on Friday evening.

Zyaire Ewing led all scorers with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the win. It was the first time the two schools had met since a 55-53 Delta State win in 2013.

STATS OF THE GAME:

• Ewing posted 20 points and 14 rebounds.
• Delta State's Moriah Hurst (15 points), Camryn Davis (12 points), and T'Kyra Hicks (11 points) all scored in double figures. 
• MVSU was led by Mikayla Etienne who had 16 points.
• The Green and White shot 55 percent from the floor in the win.
• Delta State out-rebounded MVSU 47-24
• The Lady Statesmen went 21-of-29 from the free throw line to shoot 72 percent from the line, while the Devilettes shot just 54 percent (21-of-39) from the line.
• Both teams combined to shoot 5-of-26 from three-point territory.
• There were a combined 67 fouls in the contest and a total of 55 turnovers between the two teams.

The Lady Statesmen hit the road to open the 2021-2022 season as they travel to Tuskegee, Ala. for the Gulf South Conference/South Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover. Delta State starts the weekend on Friday, Nov. 12 against tournament hosts Tuskegee University before playing Lemoyne-Owen College on Saturday, Nov. 13.
