BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On the heels of his game-winning field goal, Delta State kicker Connor Mantelli is the Gulf South Conference Freshman and Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Monday, November 8, 2021.

Mantelli booted a 28-yard field goal in overtime to defeat rival Mississippi College 24-21 on Saturday. The Castle Rock, Colo. native converted DSU's first game-winning field since Taylor Crabtree's game-winner against North Greenville in 2019. Mantelli also went 3-for-3 on extra points on the afternoon.

Delta State travels to the University of West Georgia for the season finale on Saturday at noon central in Carrollton, Ga.
