CLEVELAND, Miss. -- T'Kyra Hicks tallied 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, and the Lady Statesmen defense held the University of Alabama in Huntsville to 31 percent shooting en route to a 64-42 win on Monday night at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the game's opening four minutes, the two teams combined to shoot just 6-for-20 from the field as UAH took an early 7-6 lead.
- The Chargers followed with a 7-0 run behind back-to-back Holly Harris three-point baskets, but the Lady Statesmen battled to a 16-15 lead after the first quarter.
- Shaniyah Buford rattled off eight straight points in the first two minutes of the second quarter for DSU, and the Lady Statesmen tallied a 10-0 run to take a 29-19 lead.
- The Lady Statesmen also held the Chargers without a basket for over five minutes as part of the 10-0 run.
- Neither team scored in the final two and half minutes of the first half as DSU took a 30-22 lead at the break.
- The Chargers forced five Lady Statesmen fouls in the opening three minutes of the third as both teams started the third slowly.
- The two sides combined for just five points in the first four minutes of the third quarter.
- Hicks hit a layup and was fouled to push the DSU lead back out to eight points at the close of the third quarter.
