JACKSON, TENN. -- The Delta State University men's basketball team shot 56 percent from three-point territory and had all five starters score in double figures as the Statesmen pushed past Union (Tenn.) University 90-72 on Friday night at Fred Delay Gymnasium.
Michael Motley paced the Statesmen with 27 points and 11 rebounds to collect his first double-double of the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Union jumped on Delta State quickly with a pair of buckets to open the game and take a 5-0 lead less than a minute into the contest.
- The Statesmen responded, however, with a 25-5 run sparked by 11 points and a pair of three-pointers from Motley.
- The Bulldogs cut the DSU lead down to 10 on three different occasions, but the Green and White got a Jaylen Lemons three-pointer to take a 42-27 lead with 2:33 to go in the first half.
- Maalik Cartwright's dunk with three seconds to go in half put the Statesmen up 46-32 at the break.
- A pair of Motley layups out of the locker room pushed the score to 50-32 with 19:27 left in the game, but Union had an answer.
- The Bulldogs used a quick 9-0 run to cut the lead to nine, 50-41, with 16:03 left.
- Kelen Dietrich drained a three-pointer and Motley added another layup as part of a 5-0 spurt to push the lead back to 14 points.
- Union's Hunter Vick responded with a personal 9-0 run, on three three-point shots, to get within three points at 55-52.
- DSU's 20-8 run to the 6:05 mark of the second half pushed the Statesmen ahead 75-60, and DSU didn't allow Union to get any closer than 13 points.
TURNING POINT
- After the Bulldogs cut a double-digit Delta State lead down to three, a 20-8 run put the Green and White up 15 points and the Statesmen did not look back.
STAT OF THE GAME
- Delta State out-rebounded Union 42-25, including 19-12 on the offensive glass, and outscored the Bulldogs 24-7 on second chance points.
NOTABLES
- Motley registered his first double-double this year, and the first of his career (27 points and 11 rebounds).
- Lemons tallied 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting and went 4-for-6 from three-point territory.
- A game after knocking down 11 three-pointers, Dietrich went 5-for-10 from three and had 17 points.
- Cartwright added 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Brooks scored 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
