MEMPHIS -- Despite a career-night scoring from
Zyaire Ewing, the Delta State University women's basketball team fell to Christian Brothers University 83-74 on Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.
Ewing poured in a career-high 31 points and also added 16 rebounds to headline her 11th double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DSU held CBU scoreless for the first three minutes of the game, but CBU caught fire with three straight three-pointers to take the lead.
- Camryn Davis and Ewing scored on back-to-back possessions to put Delta State in front, but CBU went on an 8-0 run over the last three minutes of the second quarter to push the lead out to 46-33 at the break.
- The Lady Bucs made it 54-37 before a 12-0 Lady Statesmen run cut the lead to 54-49 with 4:20 left in the third quarter.
- After a timeout, Brynne Lytle hit a layup and was fouled. She hit the ensuing free throw to make it an eight-point game.
- Ewing tried to pull the Lady Statesmen closer as she scored on three straight possessions, but DSU did not get it any closer than eight points.
- CBU made four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
TURNING POINT
- After DSU cut the lead to five, Brynne Lytle converted on a three-point play and Delta State never got any closer than eight points the rest of the way.
STAT OF THE GAME
- Brynne Lytle went 12-for-21 from the field and 9-for-9 from the free throw line, a night after going just 3-for-20 from the field in Friday night's game.
