MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Delta State University softball team dropped the final two games of the series to the Auburn University-Montgomery Warhawks on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Statesmen were held scoreless and hitless by AUM in an 8-0 loss in the first game of the doubleheader. In game two, Lady Statesmen's early scoring run would be cut short by AUM in the last two innings to fall 8-5.

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks came out of the gate quickly in game one of the doubleheader and took an early 4-0 lead. Kathryn Fallen started the scoring run with a single to right field. Molly Cobb and Olivia Aycock scored on the single and a throwing error.
- Kendall Tucker's SAC-bunt aided Abby Krueger in crossing the plate. Fallen would end the inning as she scored on a wild pitch by Jenny Griggers.
- The Warhawks tacked on two more runs to extend their lead 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Krueger singled up the middle that scored Allie Miller and Parker Pinholster.
- The last runs of the game came in the bottom of the six as two wild pitches proved costly to the Lady Statesmen. Miller scored on the first wild pitch. Then to close the game, Aycock scored on the final wild pitch to take 8-0 win over the Green and White.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Jenny Griggers (0-3) got the start and took the loss for DSU. She went three and one-thirds of an inning giving up two hits and six runs while walking four.
- Lacey Coats came in to relieve and close out the game for Griggers. Coats saw two and one-third inning of action. While in the circle Coats only gave up one hit and two runs with one of the runs being earned. She walkied two and struck out three.
- Alanna Goble (9-1) won the game for the Warhawks. She went six innings giving up no hits, no runs, and had a career high 11 strikeouts

- This is the first time this season a team has held the Lady Statesmen hitless.
GAME 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the third, Lady Statesmen took a early 4-0 lead. Julie Scherermann scored on a dropped flyball by Hannah Dailey.
- Jenny Griggers hit a ball deep and out of the left side of the field for a two run home run as Kailyn Lofton scored.
- Karley Bloesch stepped up to the plate and belted her first homerun of the season to end the inning.
- In the top of the fourth, the Lady Statesmen would tack on their last run of the game to bring the lead 5-0. Summer Cryder singled to right field which aided Hope Harbin in scoring.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Warhawks used a single, a double, and two home runs to score six runs to take a 6-5 lead on the Lady Statesmen.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Warhawks secured the 8-5 win. To start the inning Olivia Aycock would score on a throwing error by Griggers. To close out the series, AUM's Kathryn Fallen singled up the middle to score Lauren Haskins.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Olivia Burns started for the Green and White. Burns allowed five runs and seven hits in four and one-thirds innings of action. Burns walked four and had five strikeouts.
- Brookelyn Sweeney (1-3) come in to relieve Burns and took the loss. In just two-thirds innings of work, Sweeney gave up two runs and two hits with two walks and one strikeout.
- Griggers went one inning and gave up one run on two hits with one walk.
- Chanel Newcomer got the start for AUM. She went two and two-thirds innings and gave up four runs on four hits while striking out one.
- Brinkley Yevak (3-0) came in relief for the Warhawks and earned the win. She gave up a hit and one run in two and one-third innings while striking out two.
- Bailie Barnes come in and picked up her second save of the season. Barnes gave up just one run in two innings of action while walking one and striking out one.
NOTABLES (GM 3)
- Cryder was 2-for-2 with two hits and a RBI.
- Griggers hit her fourth home run of the season.
- Bloesch hit her first career home run.

The Lady Statesmen travel to the University of Montevallo on Friday, April 16th with a game against the Falcons. The first pitch at Orr Park will be at 5 PM to kick off the GSC Series.
