CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University softball team split with the University of Alabama at Huntsville on senior day. The Lady Statesmen were shut out 3-0 in game one. In game two, the Lady Statesmen scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 6-5 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chargers jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Mackenzie Nutt's singled to right field which scored Lila Young and Gracie Green.
- Huntsville added on another run in the top of the sixth to secure the 3-0 shutout. Laura Harbin scored on a throwing error by Lofton.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Olivia Burns (5-11) got the start and took the loss for DSU. She threw a complete game giving up three hits and three runs. Two of those were earned while she also struck out five.
- Layton Murphy (12-4) won the game for Huntsville. She went seven innings giving up only three hits, walked five, and struck out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UAH came out of the gate quickly in game two of the doubleheader and took an early 2-0 lead. In the top of the first, Nutt scored on an error by Lofton. Kiara Akles's double scored Shelby Booker to end the inning.
- The Chargers plated one more run in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead, due to a single by Nutt which scored Lila Young.
- UAH's Nutt scored on a error by Julie Scheuermann to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Statesmen cut the Chargers lead to 4-3. Jenny Griggers and Lofton scored on a wild pitch from Gracie O'Berry. To end the inning for the Lady Statesmen, Karlie Stine scored on a Taylor Picou walk with the bases loaded.
- The Chargers tacked on their final run of the game in the top of the sixth to extend their lead 5-3. Nutt scored on an error by Scheuermann.
- The Lady Statesmen would rally early in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 6-5 win. Lofton's two run home run scored Stafford. To end the game, Griggers scored on a SAC-fly by Jaclyn Deason.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Lacey Coats (14-5) took the win for the Green and White. Coats saw seven innings of action. Coats gave up seven hits and five runs with only one of those runs being earned and had four strikeouts and three walks.
- Akles (4-4) got the loss for the Chargers. Akles only allowed one hit and one run in two thirds of an inning.
- Grace O'Berry got the start for UAH. O'Berry saw six innings of action giving up five runs and six hits. Three of the five runs were earned. O'Berry walked three and had nine strike outs.
