CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball team closed out their home slate with the visiting Lady Blazers of Valdosta State University with a 12-8 hard fought loss. Three errors proved to be the difference maker for the Lady Blazers against the Lady Statesmen.

GAME 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the bottom of the first, DSU took a 3-0 lead. Jenny Griggers hit a home run to right field earning three RBI's while scoring Raegan Stafford and Summer Cryder.
- In the top of the second, Lacey Crandall stepped up and cut the Lady Statesmen lead down to 3-2 with a two -un homerun that scored Aniston Gano.
- The Lady Statesmen jumped ahead further with a solo home run by Taylor Picou in the bottom of the second.
- In the top of the fourth, Valdosta tied the game at 4-4 as Crandall scored on a fielding error by Jaclyn Deason.
- The Lady Blazers pulled ahead 7-4 in the top of the fifth. Crandall started the scoring rally as she hit into a double play to score Kiley Robb.
- Katie Proctor ignited the end of the inning as she hit a two-run homerun which scored Alexis Potapczak.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Statesmen scored four to take back the lead at 8-7. Jenny Griggers dug out a double to left field that aided Summer Cryder in crossing home plate.
- Karley Bloesch grounded out to the second baseman which allowed Stafford to score. Deason concluded the inning with a two run homerun scoring Griggers.
- In the top of the sixth, Valdosta tacked on two runs to take the 9-8 lead. Logan Hill's SAC-fly gave Morgan Hill the chance to score. Robb's single to left field scored Nicole Pennington.
- In the top of the seventh, the Lady Blazers secured a 12-8 win over the Lady Statesmen. Hill's single to right center plated Baylee Everson. Pennington doubled to left center to score the final two runs of the game as she scored Hill and Hunter Meadows.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Jenny Griggers (0-2) took the loss for the Green and White. Griggers relieved Olivia Burns for one and two thirds innings of action. Griggers gave up five hits along with five runs.
- Olivia Burns got the start for DSU. In three and two-thirds innings of work, Burns gave up five hits and four runs.
- Lacey Coats came in to close out the game for Griggers. Coats saw one and two-thirds innings of actions only allowing three runs and three hits.
- Morgan Hill (4-1) earned the win for the Lady Blazers. Hill came in to relieve DeAngelis for two complete innings as she shut down the Lady Statesmen with no runs and no hits.
- Samantha Richards started for VSU and went two complete innings. Richards allowed three hits and four runs.
- Avery Lamb relieved Richards for two and two thirds innings giving up just four runs with three hits.
- Mia DeAngelis came in for one-third of an inning of work and kept the Lady Statesmen locked down not allowing a hit.
NOTABLES (GM3)
- Griggers went 2-for-4 with four of the eight RBI's of the game.
