Strong Third Quarter Pushes Delta State Past Shorter

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University women's basketball team used a 19-point third quarter to pull away from Shorter University and snap a four-game losing streak with a 77-69 victory on Thursday evening.

The Lady Statesmen had as much as a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter but Shorter went on a 12-0 run to cut into the lead. Zyaire Ewing had a season-high 21 points to lead the Lady Statesmen. Four different Delta State players reached double-figures in scoring.

  • Delta State were 28-for-54 from the field for 51.9 percent which was their highest percentage of the season. The previous high was 51.7 percent against Christian Brothers.
