CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University men's basketball team took a two-point lead with 1:47 remaining in regulation, but a late 5-0 run by the University of West Georgia, including a Deng Nhial three-pointer, helped the Wolves edge the Statesmen 79-76 in front of a packed house at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- West Georgia's Deng Nhial opened the game with three three-point field goals to help the Wolves build an early five-point lead.
- The Wolves built a lead as big as 10 points, but DSU closed the opening half on an 8-2 run with a three-point play by Kasey Walker-Gregg.
- UWG had a pair of five-point leads midway through the second half, but battled it back down to one possession each time.
- DSU trailed by four with four minutes to go, but a Maalik Cartwright jumper and two Airen Brooks free throws tied the game at 74-74.
- DSU then took the lead 76-74 on a Brooks jumper in the paint, but Nhial answered with a three-pointer.
- A late three-point shot from Brooks fell short, and UWG held on to win its fifth in a row.
- Seth Brown-Carter (23) and Nhial (22) each scored north of 20 points.
- The Wolves hit 11 three-pointers (42 percent) to Delta State's seven (33 percent).
- DSU outscored UWG 44-26 in the paint and out-rebounded the Wolves 34-25.
- Airen Brooks has 25 points to lead five players in double-figures for the Statesmen.
