Four Lady Statesmen Scorers in Double-Figures Power Win Over UWG

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University women's basketball team used an 11-0 run after the first basket of the game by the University of West Georgia to take a lead they never relinquished on Wednesday night at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
 
UWG went on an 11-1 run in the third quarter to cut the lead to four points, but then DSU went on their own 11-0 run to push the lead back out to 14 points. After that point DSU never let the lead slip past seven points. Four Lady Statesmen scored 15 or more points in the win. T'Kyra Hicks had 19 points to lead all scorers. Zyaire Ewing had her seventh double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Delta State were 26-for-56 from the field for 46 percent.
  • The Lady Statesmen were 9-for-20 from beyond the arc, the most made three-pointers in a single game this season.
  • Hicks had five three-point shots, which is the most since Shaniyah Buford had five against Christian Brothers in 2020.
  • The Lady Statesmen out-rebounded UWG 40-27. That is the second straight game in a row for an opponent to only secure 27 rebounds against DSU.
  • DSU had a season-high 20 assists and committed 21 turnovers.
  • Delta State was 15-of-19 from the free throw line, bolstered by Ewing's 8-for-10 mark.
  • UWG tied the Lady Statesmen 24-24 with points in the paint.
