MONTICELLO, Ark. -- Lady Statesmen basketball (1-2) lead the Arkansas-Monticello Blossoms (1-2) 61-55 with just over a minute left in regulation, but UAM ended the game on an 8-0 run, capped off with two made free throws with 3 seconds left to pick up the 63-61 win. The action was competitive all night with 6 lead changes and 4 ties between the two teams.
The hustle points were big once again for the Lady Statesmen. They held the advantage in points off turnovers, fast break points, and points in the paint while also scoring 9 second-chance points and 17 points off the bench.
Michelle Smith led all scorers for the game with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Brysa Maxwell was also in double figures with 14 points. Grace Watson had 8 points and 7 boards against the Blossoms.
