CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Lady Statesmen (2-6 overall, 1-3 GSC) cut into the West Florida lead in the second half, but the early lead was enough for the West Florida Argonauts (2-3, 2-2) to leave Sillers Coliseum with their second conference win. Delta State used a 41.7% shooting performance in the third quarter to trim into the lead after shooting just 14.1% in the first half.
The Lady Statesmen were able to trim the West Florida lead down to 13 from 24 in the second half, but the Argonauts also turned up the heat in the fourth quarter as they extended the lead back to 24 in their 63-39 win.
West Florida was deadly in the painted area, where they scored 30 of their 63 total points from. They were led by Jaclyn Jarnot who earned a symmetrical double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Alanna Smith was the only Lady Statesmen in double figures with 15 points and 5 rebounds.
Camryn Davis scored 9 points with 4 rebounds. Grace Watson also had 4 boards to go with 4 points.
