MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Lady Statesmen (3-6 overall, 2-3 GSC) used their advantages in the hustle stats to leave Montgomery with a 77-71 win over the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks (2-5, 1-3). Friday's game saw 8 ties and 3 lead changes, including a fourth quarter with a 25-15 advantage for the Lady Statesmen.
Delta State's two biggest advantages on the score sheet were in the unofficial category of the 'hustle stats'. The Lady Statesmen outscored the Warhawks 38-22 in paint points and a whopping 22-7 in second-chance points. Delta State also outrebounded AUM 39-27 and was led by
Camryn Davis and
Grace Watson with 17 rebounds between the two.
Davis finished with yet another double-double, scoring a game-high 16 points to go with her 10 rebounds. Six of Watson's seven rebounds were offensive rebounds. She also scored 8 points and recorded 3 assists.
Two other Lady Statesmen also finished in double figures.
MaKenzie Hill scored 14 points on 5-10 shooting with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Alanna Smith scored 11 points with 3 boards and 3 assists.
