Auburn-Montgomery Snaps Delta State's Three-Game Win Streak

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University men's basketball team had its three-game win streak snapped on Thursday night, as a spell of cold-shooting doomed the Statesmen in a 61-57 defeat at the hands of Auburn University at Montgomery.

Delta State shot just 37 percent from the field as a team, including a 25 percent clip (6-for-24) from three-point territory.

STATS OF THE GAME
  • AUM charged out to an 11-4 start thanks to seven quick points from Jeremiah Bozeman, who would finish the game with 10 points and eight rebounds.
  • The Statesmen edged their way back into the game with a 15-8 run of their own to tie the game at 19-19 at the 7:27 mark of the first half.
  • Both teams combined for just five field goals in the final seven minutes of the first half, and the Warhawks led 28-25 at the break.
  • Delta State won the opening four minutes of the second half, as they used a Maalik Cartwright jumper to punctuate a 7-4 spurt to tie the game at 32-32.
  • The two teams continued to battle, but AUM edged the lead out to eight points on a handful of occasions, including 53-45 with 5:02 to play.
  • Six straight points from Airen Brooks made it a two-point game with 1:57 to play, but Isaiah Hart went 6-for-6 from the foul line in the game's closing two minutes to salt the game away.
  • Brooks finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds in posting his 16th career double-double.
  • AUM out-rebounded Delta State 43-32, including 17-5 on the offensive glass.
  • The Warhawks also outscored the Statesmen 34-20 in the paint.
