HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Delta State University women's basketball team scored the final six points of the game and held on to beat the University of Alabama in Huntsville 61-55 on Saturday afternoon.
The win sealed the No. 5 seed for the Lady Statesmen in the Gulf South Conference tournament which is set to begin on Tuesday evening. Delta State will travel to play the University of West Florida in Pensacola. The Lady Statesmen were led by
Moriah Hurst who had 19 points

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Delta State was 24-of-49 from the field for 40.7 percent. The Chargers were 20-of-55 in the game.
- Zyaire Ewing had 16 points and 14 rebounds. She secured her 14th double-double of the season and her eighth in the last nine games.
- DSU had a 12-point lead in the third quarter but UAH outscored DSU 11-6 in the third period.
- With four minutes left in the game, Holly Harris made a layup and a free throw to give UAH a 49-48 lead. But Ke'Vonshaye Stackhouse went back down the court and hit a three-point shot to give DSU the 51-49 lead right back. After that point, DSU did not relinquish the lead.
- Only five Lady Statesmen scored in the game with four of them scoring in double figures.
- Hurst was 9-of-14 from the field on her way to 19 points.
- The Chargers had two scorers in double figures with Harris leading the way with 14.
- DSU only committed eight turnovers while having 12 assists.
- The Lady Statesmen out-rebounded the Chargers 39-33.
