BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Maalik Cartwright garnered Second Team All-Gulf South Conference honors as announced by the league on Tuesday, March 1.

Cartwright averaged 14.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. He shot 58 percent from the field in 30.4 minutes per game.

The forward ranked 12th in the GSC in scoring, fifth in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage, seventh in assists, eighth in assist-to-turnover ratio, and third in blocked shots.

The Holly Grove, Ark. native, posted seven 20-plus point games and four double-doubles for the Statesmen, with a season-best 25 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists against Lee (Tenn.) University. 

Cartwright collects All-GSC honors for the second time in his career. Cartwright was the GSC Freshman of the Year in 2020 after winning the league's Freshman of the Week award five times and was named First Team All-GSC West Division in 2021. He also was named to the NABC Second Team All-District team in 2021.
