Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Delta State University softball team scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead over the University of West Georgia and then held on for a 11-9 victory. This was the first series sweep this season for the Lady Statesmen in Gulf South Conference play.
Kailyn Lofton led the way for DSU going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI, two runs scored, and a walk.
Chrissy Tubbs continued to play well going 2-for-5 from the plate and driving in three runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
GAME 1
- In the bottom of the first inning, UWG hit two doubles and then Emma Bailey hit a home run to give the Wolves the 3-0 lead.
- Jenny Griggers hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning to make it 3-1.
- After a Katelyn Hayman double to start the third, Lofton drove her in to make it 3-2.
- Tubbs then hit her third home run of the weekend to score three runs and give DSU the 5-3 lead.
- Karley Bloesch drove Alana Walker in the fourth inning to make it 6-3.
- UWG used seven hits to bring in five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 8-6 lead.
- In the top of the fifth, Walker drove in Taylor Picou to make it a 8-7 game.
- Then Lofton hit a single and scored two run to give DSU the 9-8 lead. Lofton then scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-8.
- In the seventh inning, MyCala Helms drove in Lofton to give DSU the 11-8 lead.
- UWG got one run in the bottom of the seventh to make it the final score of 11-9.

- Olivia Burns started for DSU, she went two-thirds on an inning and gave up three runs on three hits.
- Makenna Keeton came in relief for Delta State and went three innings. She gave up five runs on six hits and had one strike out.
- Hannah Hasle (5-2) pitched the last three and one third innings and gave up one run on three hits.
- Alley Taylor started the game for UWG. She went four innings and gave up seven runs on seven hits.
- Macy Ann McKnight (5-6) earned the loss and went three innings giving up four runs on eight hits.
