CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Southern Indiana University scored three runs in the top of the ninth to upend the Delta State University baseball team 5-2 on Sunday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless until the fifth when the Screaming Eagles took a 2-0 lead on RBI singles by Ethan Hunter and Lucas McNew.
- Delta State tied the game 2-2 in the seventh. Jake Barlow singled and scored on a wild pitch and an RBI infield single by Carson Clowers.
- Southern Indiana scored retook the lead with a three-run ninth. McNew had an RBI single and Cordell Corbin doubled home two runs.
- Barlow and Wyatt Pratt singled to start the ninth only to be stranded in scoring position when USI reliever Matthew Moore posted a strikeout, a ground out and a pop out to end the game.
ON THE MOUND
- Statesmen starter Hammer Franks worked 4.2 innings, recording five strikeouts and giving up two runs on three hits.
- Jackson Rutledge (0-2) posted five strikeouts but yielded two runs on a hit with five strikeouts as the pitcher of record for DSU.
- Sammy Barnett (2-0) worked 1.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn the win.
- Matthew Moore (1) gave up two hits and had a strikeout in one inning of work to pick up the save.
NOTABLES
- Barlow accounted for three of the Statesmen's 10 hits followed by Ragland with two singles.
