LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The No. 13/18 Delta State University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the University of West Alabama by the scores of 3-2 and 8-1 on Saturday at Tartt Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1
- Jonathan Thibodeau had an RBI single, and another run scored on a ground out to give West Alabama a 2-0 lead in the fourth.
- Jake Nemith extended the UWA lead to 3-0 lead on a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth.
- Kirkland Trahan belted a two-run home run in the ninth to cut the UWA lead to 3-2.
- Brenton Thiels came on to record the final two outs to hold off the Statesmen's comeback.
ON THE MOUND | GM 1
- Peyton Warren (3-7), who carried a shutout into the ninth, yielded two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and five walks in 8.1 innings of work.
- Harrison Haley (8-1) allowed three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched to suffer his first loss of the season.
- Thiels (2) had a strikeout while recording the final two outs to pick up the save.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 2
- The Tigers grabbed a 6-0 lead in the third inning. Nemith got two runs home with a single followed by RBI singles from Braydon Lyman and Gavin Rogers.
- Gabe Stockton had RBI single to cut the UWA lead to 6-1 in the fifth inning.
- Josh Bower's two-run home run extended the Tigers' lead to 8-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
ON THE MOUND | GM 2
- Landon Zizmann (7-2) allowed six runs, four earned, on three hits with one strikeout and three walks to take the loss for the Statesmen.
- Rogers (4-1) struck out five and gave up one run on four hits to pick up the win for UWA.
NOTABLES
- Trahan had two of the Statesmen's four hits, including a two-run home run in the ninth.
- Stockton, Jake Barlow, Carson Clowers, and Dendy collected singles for the Statesmen in game two.
- The doubleheader sweep helped UWA secure its second straight series win over the Statesmen.
