HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chad Ragland walked and later scored on a Jake Barlow groundout for a 1-0 Statesmen lead in the first inning.
- Tucker Burton singled home the tying run for Southern Arkansas in second.
- Riley Orr drew a bases loaded walked and Chris Sutton plated a run on a sac-fly as part of a three-run fourth to give SAU a 4-1 lead.
- Chris Lyles gave SAU a 5-1 lead in the seventh singling Jakob Machuca, who doubled.
- The Statesmen cut the deficit to 5-2 when Wyatt Pratt singled and scored after Ragland got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
ON THE MOUND
- Charlie Darnall (1-2) gave up three runs on two hits with two walks to take the loss for the Statesmen.
- Jonny Vesevick (1-1) struck out five while allowing one run on two hits with three walks to earn the win.
- Isaiah Haynes (10 tossed 2.2 scoreless innings and did not allow a with five strikeouts to pick up the save.
