Barlow, Clowers Selected to the D2CCA All-South Region Teams

COMPLETE D2CCA ALL-SOUTH REGION TEAMS

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Senior Jake Barlow and junior Carson Clowers were named to the D2CCA All-South Region first and second teams, respectively, as released on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Both student-athletes move onto the D2CCA All-American selection process later this month. 
 
Barlow, who earned his third straight D2CCA First-Team All-South Region selection, adds the honor to a list that includes First-Team All-Gulf South Conference and First-Team CoSIDA All-Academic District 5 accolades. Barlow paces the Statesmen with 13 home runs, 50 runs scored, and his 13 doubles are in a three-way tie for the team-high.

The Jonesville, La., native is third on the team with 41 RBI and has a team-best .635 slugging percentage. The senior ranks fourth in the GSC in home runs and runs scored. Barlow ranks third on the DSU career, and eighth on the GSC career-home runs list (45), seventh in career-total bases (398), and sixth in triples (8).
 
Clowers adds to his 2022 honors after earning First-Team All-GSC accolades earlier in May. The Monroe, La, native is second in the GSC with a .398 batting average while posting 10 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 31 RBI, and 13 steals. Clowers has made 46 starts at shortstop and ranks seventh in the GSC with a .477 on base percentage, third in sac-flies (5), and second in sac-bunts (6).
 
The Statesmen are 32-15 overall and open play as the No. 6 seed in the NCAA South Region 2 Baseball Tournament against No. 3 seed Rollins College on Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. (CT).
