CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Lady Statesmen (7-10 overall, 6-7 GSC) fell behind early to the full-court pressure of 24th-ranked Union Lady Bulldogs (12-3, 10-3) on Thursday night. Union's 78-41 win saw the Lady Bulldogs shoot just under 46 percent from the field while holding the Lady Statesmen to 28.6 percent shooting for the game.
Union led 51-17 at halftime, mostly due to a 32-point team performance in the second quarter. Union's near-constant substitution rotation kept their legs fresh as they pressed the Lady Statesmen into 16 turnovers and 23 points off of those turnovers.
Only two players in the game reached double-figures with Union's Shanique Lucas scoring a game-high 18 points. Eleven Lady Bulldogs scored on Thursday night with 4 players scoring 8 points each.
Ten Lady Statesmen scored against Union, led by
Camryn Davis with a team-high 10 points to go with 9 rebounds, a block, and a steal.
Grace Watson scored 8 points with 3 rebounds.
