CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Lady Statesmen (7-11 overall, 6-8 GSC) were tied at 27 at the break with Christian Brothers (8-9, 6-8) in a game that ultimately saw 6 ties and lead changes. However, it was the Lady Bucs who managed to pull away late and pick up the 64-59 win on Saturday evening.
Christian Brothers led by as many as 12 in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Statesmen never stopped chipping into the lead and get it to as low as 4 points. Delta State dropped the decision despite holding advantages in paint points (34-22) and second chance points (14-11).
Two Lady Statesmen reached double-figures as 9 different DSU players found their way to the score sheet.
Camryn Davis led all scorers with 19 points to go with 7 rebounds.Â
The second-highest scorer in the game came off the bench for the Lady Statesmen in
Michelle Smith. She scored 17 points to go with 5 boards.
Dakiya Toney was a point shy of a double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds.
Otashae Burrage scored 6 points and recorded an offensive rebound.
