CLINTON, Miss. -- The Lady Statesmen (7-8 overall, 6-5 GSC) used a great team effort in their Monday night win at Mississippi College (3-11, 2-9) to get back above .500 in GSC play. Delta State nearly went wire-to-wire in the win, leading for 39 of the game's 40 minutes.
Notable stats that favored the Lady Statesmen on Monday included total rebounds (43-31), points in the paint (26-12), and points off turnovers (13-6). Delta State also outscored MC in every quarter, including a 20-point fourth quarter for DSU.
Eight Lady Statesmen contributed to the point total, led by
Camryn Davis with a game-high 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Ginny Higginbotham was the only other player in double-figures for either team with 12 points and 3 made three-pointers.
Alanna Smith scored 9 points with 7 assists and 3 rebounds.
MaKenzie Hill and
Dakiya Toney each recorded 6 points.
